Belated Updates

Well, folks, it seems I’ve gotten a little behind on keeping you up on my current events!  Here’s the quick and dirty on what I’ve been up to:

-Spent the summer playing softball with friends and playing music with strangers.  Focused a lot of time on my original music and played my first open mic!  Also played some singer/songwriter nights with friends and busked at the farmers market in downtown Vancouver.  Very exciting!

-As fall moved in, shifted back into theatre mode and participated in a fabulous staged reading of Homomentum: the Musical.  The production marked another first for me: my first role in drag!  Turns out, I can really rock the Burt Reynolds mustache.  The response to the show was so enthusiastic that recording has already begun on the Homomentum soundtrack, so keep your ears open for people humming those tunes in the not-too-distant future!

-Winter has arrived and I have spent this most magical season singing with the Grotto carolers at the Grotto Festival of Lights.  Tomorrow is our final concert, and I really have enjoyed every minute of it.  It’s such a joy to be singing beautiful Christmas carols in four part harmony with a group as lovely in spirit as in voice.

Next up: another show with Well Arts!  I am so excited to be working with this group of writers, all mothers of children with developmental disabilities.  They are a diverse and talented bunch with some powerful stories to tell.  I will try to be more timely with my next post, but in case the days get away from me, you can find all the information at wellarts.org.

Happy New Year!

Doing the Cockroach

I’ve been so caught up in the Fertile Ground Festival here in Portland that I almost forgot to tell you about my current project!  As part of the festival, I am involved in a staged reading of “Doing the Cockroach” by up-and-coming playwright Andrew Shanks.  This reading is presented by World at Large Theatre and is a part of Ripen: A Feast of New Works at Milepost 5.  We got some great feedback at our opening night last week and are looking forward to three more performances – Jan 28th @ 5pm, Jan 30th @ 7pm, and Feb 1st @ 5pm.  For more information and to read an insightful interview with our playwright, CLICK HERE.  Wish I could tell you more, but I’ve got to run off to tonight’s performance!

It’s A Wonderful New Musical!

Hello Everybody!

Tonight is opening night of It’s A Wonderful Life at Stumptown Stages, playing in downtown Portland at Brunish Hall in the Portland Center for the Performing Arts!  This production is an original musical adaptation of the beloved film and it is the perfect show to get you in the holiday spirit.  It is always a challenging and rewarding process working with a new script, and so exciting when you finally get to offer something to the public that has never been seen before.  If you are in the Portland area, I hope you get  a chance to come enjoy this beautiful show and talented cast (look for me in the ensemble!).  We’ll be playing Thurs-Sun Nov. 29th – Dec. 23rd.  More information can be found at www.stumptownstages.com.
